Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to HSPA!
Parents and carers are a critical part of the HSPA community and there are many ways that you can get involved in the life of the school.
Like most schools, HSPA has a formal Parents and Citizens Committee (P&C). The P&C meets on the first Monday of every month in the HSPA Staff Room at 7pm.
The P&C has two sub-committees:
Music sub-committee: meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 6pm. The group assists the staff in providing opportunities for the music ensembles.
Primary sub-committee: meets at 6pm on the first Monday of the month (immediately before the P&C meeting). The group organises activities and events with a focus on the primary school at HSPA.
Canteen: HSPA has a fantastic canteen! It is the envy of many other schools and a credit to the hard-working staff and volunteers. We are always looking out for parents and carers to help in the canteen.
Depending on whether your child is focused on music, dance or drama, there are a range of ensembles and activities which will take place during the year. There are often opportunities to help out with logistics or other arrangements so watch for details from your child’s teacher.
These are some of the many ways that you can get involved in the HSPA school community.
P&C Annual General Meeting
The HSPA P&C has its Annual General meeting at 7pm Monday 2 March in the Staff Room. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. AGMs are sometimes associated with handing out committee roles and tasks, but we can assure you that no-one will be coerced into taking a role. Of course, there are opportunities for you to join the small executive committee if you wish. A plan to attend the monthly P&C meetings would be great. At each monthly meeting there is normally a guest speaker and this month it is Jo Gray, HSPA Principal.
