Message from Jo Gray regarding Term 2 2020 Lesson Delivery

Important Information

Dear Students and Parents

Yesterday a number of significant announcements were made at the Premier’s Press Conference. Following the conference, the Department of Education provided Principals with a livestream briefing, giving further detail to our operational mode for term 2. There is much that now needs to be planned.

The key messages are:

·  Tuesday 28 April has been announced as an additional School Development Day, meaning that both Monday and Tuesday of next week are pupil free days. Therefore, the online student work for term two will begin on Wednesday the 29th of April.

·  Weeks 1 and 2 will continue as online learning from home, with the same arrangements as we concluded term 1. The government is encouraging students to work from home, but no student will be turned away.

·  From the start of Week 3, May 11, every student will have the opportunity to attend school for one day per week, with up to 25% of students in attendance on any given day. This will be a rostered system with each student attending only on their designated day.

·  We need to maintain social distancing at school, including the playground. Classrooms will be limited to 10 students at a time; this is government direction.

·   Year 12 will have additional opportunities to attend, with a particular focus on supporting students with Major works, however the majority of learning will continue to be delivered online.

We will take some time to look at different models to work out what best suits our community and expect to have the plan for Phase 1 to you in the next week.

Attached is the plan for Term 2 provided by the Department (click HERE to access), starting with one day per week for each student from May 11th, through to full time school. This does not have a suggested time for each phase at present and will depend on continuing health recommendations.

Please contact the school if you have any questions or contact individual teachers about specific work concerns.

I have also attached the new bell times which will operate throughout Term 2. Click HERE for all relevant information.

I hope you have managed to spend some precious down time over the holiday period with your families and are refreshed for the next term.

Regards,

Jo Gray
