Construction Update

The NSW Government is investing $6 billion over the next four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. In addition, a record $847 million is being spent on school maintenance over four years, along with a record $500 million for the sustainable Cooler Classrooms program to provide air conditioning to schools. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.

A project is well underway at the Hunter School of Performing Arts to upgrade the school's performing arts facilities, gymnasium and outdoor sports courts. This will include the construction of a new performing arts block, followed by the demolition of the bini shell.

PROJECT SUMMARY

Upcoming works in December 2018 and January 2019 include demolition of the bini shell, landscaping works and construction of the sports courts. Demolition of the bini shell will start from Saturday 8 December, weather and site conditions permitting. Demolition will include the following activities:

  • installation of site fencing and hoarding around the work area
  • internal strip out of the building and removal of asbestos materials
  • demolition of bini shell structure
  • high impact demolition works will be scheduled in the school holidays after the end of Term 4
  • removal of materials from the site in trucks

We are here to make sure that work is completed safely and efficiently and we will minimise impacts on the community at every opportunity. The project is forecast to be completed in time for Day 1 Term 1 2019 and we are thrilled to be delivering it to the school community. We thank you for your patience during construction.
