Student Welfare
Extension and Additional Support
Our teachers are experts in delivering quality, differentiated and needs-based learning experiences in the classroom. They understand the creative nature of students and the performing arts passions they have, and tailor their teaching to meet the needs of all individual students. We offer both extension programs and additional support within the classroom to help meet these needs. If your child had access to either of these at their previous school, or you believe that there is something we should be aware of, please contact the school and arrange to talk to the Primary Principal or classroom teacher.
First Aid or Emergencies
Your child’s enrolment form includes all medical details, emergency contacts and any medical or learning support needs required. Please ensure this is updated and sent back to the school to allow us to have accurate and up-to-date information in case of emergencies. If any changes occur during the year, please inform the office as soon as possible.
In accordance with DoE policy, the school offers basic first aid (i.e. band-aids, ice pack or administering medications). If a student is injured or ill, parents will be notified and the student may need to be collected from school. An ambulance will be called if it is deemed necessary. All staff members are trained in asthma, anaphylaxis and CPR first aid, and some staff are trained in the administration of emergency first aid.
Student Medical Information
Any medication that a student requires to have at school must be supplied by a parent with a completed ‘Request for support at school of a student’s health condition’ form, as per DoE requirements. This form outlines the student’s medical information needed and the dosage amount and time medication should be given. This form can also be found on our school website. Please complete this form and send into school with the medication in its original packaging for administration.
Student Medical & Learning Needs
Parents are asked to provide any action plans, reports or information relevant to your child to assist us with planning for and responding to medical and learning needs. Should an individual health care plan, and individual learning planning or a risk management plan need to be developed, the school will make contact.
School Counsellors
The services of a school counsellor is available to all students. Teachers will discuss the need for counselling with parents if required, and parents may also request their child speak to a counsellor. Primary students can only attend the school counsellor after a permission form is completed by both the parent and the classroom teacher. Appointments are made on a needs basis and are subject to change due to demand.
