What is Focus on Reading?
At HSPA we implement the Department of Education's Focus on Reading strategies of comprehension across Years 3-12, including the explicit teaching of the 'Super 6' active reading strategies. Research has proven these strategies most effective when improving reading comprehension skills across all subject areas.
Using the Super 6 strategies (predicting, visualising, making connections, questioning, monitoring and summarising), allows students to gain a deeper understanding of how to make meaning of text.
