School/Parent Communication
We understand that information from a new school can be overwhelming and there are many different types of communication used. Below is a summary of all forms of communication we use and what their purpose is. As a rule, all information about our school, including the newsletter, upcoming events and permission notes, can be found on our school website.
Primary Newsletter
The ‘Dress Circle’ newsletter is sent via email to all parents and students every Friday. Please be sure to read the newsletter as it contains all important information regarding Primary, upcoming events and/or changes to information, as well as events that have occurred around the school. The newsletter also contains a link to the online calendar with all the events happening during the year.
Information & Permission Notes
Notes are emailed to parents and are uploaded to the school website.
School Website
Everything HSPA can be found via the School Website including links to:
- Technology – Sentral and Canvas
- Calendars & bell times
- Events & Theatre tickets
- Canteen & Payment information
- Newsletters & Forms
- Curriculum & fees information
- Enrichment opportunities & support
- & more
Good News
Good news stories, student achievements and photos and videos of recent events can be found in the Dress Circle and on our Socials of Facebook & Instagram.
Class Dojo
Class dojo is a platform that can be used to receive messages from classroom teachers as well as stay updated with notifications and information reminders. Please note: HSPA Primary staff use Class Dojo as a one-way communication tool and do not use it to resond to parent messages. Please use email or phone to contact your child's teacher.
Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting
In 2024 we implemented new Year 3-10 English and Mathematics curricula. The NSW Curriculum Reform process will continue over the next three years and HSPA programs will be updated to adress the new curriculum in all learning areas as syllabuses are released.
Teachers will contact parents should there be any concerns regarding your child’s learning throughout the year as most school problems are best solved as soon as they become evident. Parents are asked to contact the school should you have any concerns regarding your child’s learning or schooling.
Students reports are available via the Sentral Parent Portal at the end of each semester.
Parent Information Night
A Parent Information night will be held at the beginning of Term 1 where parents will meet the teachers and gain information about individual classroom structure.
Details of this event will be sent out early each year.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher Interviews will occur as required throughout the year with an allocated afternoon at the beginning of Term 3.
Canvas
Canvas is an online student learning system that is used widely from Years 7-12. Primary students are exposed to this system and begin basic use throughout Years 3-6 to enable them to build skills and support a smoother transition to secondary school.
