Curriculum Pattern: Y3 - Y6
From Kindergarten to Year 6, all NSW Public Schools are required to have educational programs for six key learning areas:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science and Technology
- Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
- Creative Arts (Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts)
- Human Society and Its Environment (History and Geography)
Each area follows a syllabus of what must be taught in primary schools and includes outcomes, content and stage statements.
Within these areas, teaching and learning opportunities focus 50% on English and Mathematics, 40% on other key learning areas, and 10% on additional activities, with many key learning areas being taught using an integrated approach to curriculum delivery.
Students participate in performing arts and wellbeing lessons every afternoon, completing a lesson in their auditioned performing arts area, a lesson in another performing arts area, and a lesson in an ensemble performance group each week. All students will undertake lessons in dance, drama and music each year.
Daily check in sessions also occur each morning to support students’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing.
In addition to this, our students have many opportunities to extend their performing arts skills through an outstanding co-curriculum program including award-winning and highly acclaimed dance, drama and music ensembles, musicals, guest tutors and workshops, tours, camps, workshops, private music lessons, local/state productions. They also experience school-life with like-minded students.
