Curriculum Patterns

Curriculum Pattern: Y3 - Y6

In Kindergarten to Year 6, schools are required to have educational programs for six key learning areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science and Technology
  • Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
  • Creative Arts (Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts)
  • Human Society and Its Environment (History and Geography)

Each area follows a syllabus of what must be taught in primary schools and includes outcomes, content and stage statements.

Within our curriculum allocation 50% is focused on English and Mathematics, 40% on other key learning areas, and 10% on additional activities, with many key learning areas being taught using an integrated approach to curriculum delivery.

Students complete core lessons and ensemble performance groups in their auditioned performing art area, as well as lessons in all performing arts areas each week.

Daily check in sessions occur each morning to support students’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing.

Curriculum Pattern: Number of Periods Y7 - Y12

  • HSPA Secondary students study subjects, on a five-period day, two-week timetable cycle.
  • Students continue their studies in their auditioned performing art until the end of Year 10.
  • Check In sessions are first 10 minutes of each day except Wednesday
