Write a Book in a Day is a national competition run by The Kids’ Cancer Project. Teams of students write, illustrate and publish a book in 12 hours. These books are then distributed to children in hospitals across Australia. This is the third year the competition has been offered at HSPA, and it is always enthusiastically received by our students. In 2020, we have 75 students participating. Our groups will write their books in late September.
The competition provides an opportunity to develop writing skills in an authentic setting, whilst emphasising important HSPA school values such as cooperation, respect, participation and excellence.
As part of the competition, students are asked to raise sponsorships funds for the charity. All money raised goes towards scientific research.
