Launch Success!
We are over the moon to announce the triumphant launch and recovery of Nolan’s high altitude weather balloon project! After two years of meticulous planning and development, Nolan’s hard work soared to new heights, reaching over 28,000 metres above sea level.
From the back field of Nyngan High School, the balloon was launched last Friday and expertly tracked by our dedicated "mission control" team at SAPHI Engineering back in Newcastle. The mission was a resounding success, capturing breathtaking views of our atmosphere and returning valuable data.
The adventure didn't stop at the launch; the recovery was an adventurous journey deep into farmland north of Warren, involving local police, a kind landowner, and a drone to pinpoint the landing site. Together with Nolan and his family, we embarked on a quest across the countryside, ultimately locating the payload over 150km away from the launch site—an exhilarating end to a stellar project!
A huge congratulations to Nolan, whose dedication and creativity are a true testament to the potential of young innovators. Kudos as well to the supportive team at SAPHI Engineering for making this journey a reality!
