Details for Week 3

What you need to know

As of Week 3, students are progressing through a staged return to school model as set out by the NSW Department of Education.

Phase 1 of this model will see most students returning to school one day a week on a rostered day, with the exception of Year 12 who have been contacted via school email with more details regarding this. Rostered days at HSPA have been based on alphabetical groups (as shown below) and organised into classes of up to 10 students. This arrangement best caters to student learning for you to be able to access the same work from home or school. You have been placed with others from your year group and you will remain in the same classroom with a teacher for the entire day.

The success of Phase 1 and the monitoring of the COVID-19 situation, will determine when the school is advised to move to the next phase.

Secondary students are required to check their timetable on Sentral for class and teacher details each day they attend.

Primary students will be advised of classes when they arrive onsite each day.

Allocated Areas within the school

Students are to go directly to their allocated area when they arrive at school. All student groups have been allocated specific outdoor areas and toilets for when they arrive at school, during recess and lunch and at the end of the day should you be outside. These areas are as follows:

Year 3 to 6 – Basketball court / Primary Quad and Primary toilets (near Year 6 rooms)

Year 7 & 8 – Main Quad and B Block toilets

Year 9 & 10 – Canteen Quad and F/G Block toilets

Year 11 & 12 – Performing Arts Precinct Corridor and Precinct toilets

The library and all other areas outside of your year allocation above are out of bounds. You must remain in your allocated area at all times.

The canteen will be available for limited snack food and orders only for hot food. Orders must be placed by 9am each day. A Temporary Winter Menu has been devised. Students using the canteen will need to ensure they adhere to the indicated spacing whilst waiting.

The Uniform Shop will be open each Wednesday, however office staff are able to access and complete uniform requirements each day as needed.

Before and After School

When arriving at school, students are required to go directly to their allocated outdoor area until their classes begin.

If parents are collecting you from school, we ask that they wait outside the school gates, adhering to social distancing, or remain in their car or at a designated spot for you to meet them.

If students are being collected, accessing earlier transport or leaving school at the completion of online discussions at 2:30pm, normal early leaver procedures will apply. If students remain at school between 2:30pm and the end of the school day, you will be supervised by teachers for additional study time, completion of class work or outdoor physical activity during this time.

Additional Attendance

If you are attending more than one day a week at school due to parent work circumstances, and the school has already been notified, please follow the same instructions as above to gain information about your timetable and teacher for that day.

If you attend an additional day of school and the school has not been notified, you will be placed in a student group by the Deputy Principals each morning. On arriving at school, Secondary students need to go to the main administration office to receive details from your Deputy Principal and Primary students will need to go to Primary to receive details about your day.

Top Tips

· Ensure you bring a drink bottle labelled with your name to school. Bubblers are not to be used.

· Hand sanitizer will be in all rooms, however you are welcome to bring your own as well.

· Remember to bring your own device and a charger. Extra power boards will be provided in classrooms to support all day online learning.

· If you are unwell, remain at home until you have recovered and have your parents contact the school to advise us. Remember, you will still have access to all classwork online each day, so you won't miss any school.

· Installing the Covidsafe app on student phones may be beneficial, if you feel comfortable doing so

· Click and Collect of library books has been set up and information will be sent out early next week for you to access school books

· Remember – if at home or at school, all students will be working online
